Channel Conflict

Channel conflict occurs when different sales channels (e.g., DTC website, Amazon, wholesale partners) compete against each other for the same customers, typically due to inconsistent pricing.

A brand selling through multiple channels faces an inherent tension: each channel wants to offer the best price to win the sale, which creates internal competition. If your Amazon listing is 20% cheaper than your DTC site, you are effectively paying Amazon's fee for every sale that would have been more profitable on your own channel.

Channel conflict is most acute when unauthorized third-party sellers source your product from distributors and undercut your official channel prices on marketplaces. Resolving it requires both a strong MAP policy and continuous monitoring to enforce it.

GetStoreIntel helps by detecting unauthorized sellers and flagging prices that break your channel strategy.
