New Product Detection

New product detection is the automated identification of products or variants a competitor has added to their storefront that were not present in a previous catalog snapshot.

Product launches are strategic events. A competitor's new product entering your category can shift consumer preference, capture search demand, and change the competitive pricing landscape — often before your team even notices.

New product detection works by comparing the current list of SKUs on a competitor's site against the previously known list. Any SKU that appears in the new snapshot but not the old one is flagged as a new product. This process must handle the complexity of product pages that load dynamically (JavaScript-rendered storefronts).
